If you are unable to link a bank account or payroll provider to verify your income, you have the option to upload documents manually.
If you select I'm starting a new job soon or I have other income, you will only be given the option to upload documents and will not link a bank or payroll provider. You can bypass the bank or payroll linking process by selecting Upload PDF documents underneath the bank or payroll options on the linking page.
Documents to gather
Each property manager requires different documents for each employment status type if you are not linking a bank or payroll account. The required documents for you selected status are listed for you on the upload page.
Types of documents may include:
- Bank statements
- Pay stubs
- Recent tax returns
- Offer letter
- Benefit letter
Best practices for uploading PDFs
Follow these guidelines for uploading your documents:
- Use original PDFs where possible, rather than documents scanned from paper.
- Do not make edits to your uploads.
- Give each file you upload a unique, descriptive name to prevent confusion. For example, usbank_statement_july_2024.pdf is clearer than 38503-1243_download.pdf.
Upload your documents
- Drag one or more files into the file upload box, or choose Select a file to choose from your computer. Each upload will appear in the list below.
- Select a document type from the drop down list next to each upload.
- Add any additional files as needed, and select the trash can icon to remove any you uploaded by mistake. Select Continue when you are done.
- Select the way you get paid: direct deposit, check, cash, or other. This way the property manager can review your uploaded documents to manually verify your income.
If you are missing documents
If you do not have the required documents listed on the upload page, a warning appears outlining which documents you are missing. Select Return to go back to the upload page, or I don't have these documents if you are unable to provide them.
If you are not able to provide the documents, you are required to enter a reasoning why you do not have them available, and the property manager will be able to review your reasoning.
